This collection contains the best Heroes III maps I have ever played. They are
the "crème de la crème" so to speak. Bear in
mind that I am very selective when it comes to good maps, so it
is very difficult (though not impossible) to get your map listed
here. The authors of these maps should be honored for their
accomplishments. Also, unless someone recommends them, none of my
maps will show up here because I can't rate them myself.
Since I was so busy with school last year this was the only map I'd played to
completion at the time, and it's awesome. The subterranean monolith maze got
a little annoying, but aside from that, it's right up there with
the built-in maps from the game. Along with that, it comes with
an interesting storyline based on the the mystical town of
Atlantis. You can play any of the starting positions, except
Atlantis of course. I definitely had to think my way through this
one (that's the best quality a map can have) so I loved it. It
will be very hard to top this map.
Here's
a map based on the Belgarion books written by David Eddings. In
general, maps based on books are very thoroughly drawn and have
an in-depth storyline. This map is no different. It's designed to
be a team map, though you can play from any of the eight starting
positions, making it very replayable. The strategy varies
depending on who you play, thus it is almost eight different maps
in one. It is a very enjoyable map to play, and provides a good
challenge every time.
Hey I
finally found the author of this map, and I happy that I did
because it is really good. It's everything a small map is
supposed to be - packed with action. Small maps are just that, so
making the best use of space is important. There's nothing wasted
here. Every inch of the map is used up. On top of that, the
scenario is a good challenge. He should be commended for his
excellent work.
This
soon to be five-map series is truly a work of art. The first four
episodes are all well made, and are very challenging. When I
created Kristo's School of Quality Mapmaking, this was the kind
of work I hoped would come out of it. Awesome! For further info
regarding the Qun-Jin map series, visit Dan's website at http://www.sapros.com/maps.
Now
here's a map that's had a ton of work put into it (evident by the
many updates to it). It's a well balanced (actually one of the
most fair that I've seen) team map with a kind of "Good vs.
Evil" scenario. You can play any of the four starting
positions and have about the same chance of winning. Great for
multiplayer games!
Here's the first Armageddon's Blade map to make the Best of the Best page, and I'd say it's well deserving. It's the classic "you versus the world" scenario with no gimmicks or tricks to make your life easier. This map isn't insanely difficult but it does provide a good challenge and replayability (plus its inherent good looks). On a scale of one to ten I'd give it about a nine. Nice work!
